On Wednesday, 26 July, the ÃØÉ«´«Ã½ College community gathered together for the Vinnies Rug Up Day Fundraiser and reinforced our Dominican commitment to social justice, in conjunction with Wellbeing Week. It was a heartwarming event filled with meaningful contributions and acts of kindness.
Embracing the Chilly Weather: As part of our commitment to the environment, the College embraced the opportunity to reduce electricity use by turning off all heaters for a day. By coming together and braving the chilly weather in our cosiest winter attire, we not only supported the cause but also took a significant step towards minimising the impact of coal-fired power stations on climate change.
Giving for a Fantastic Cause: Staff and students showed incredible generosity by bringing a gold coin donation. These contributions will directly support the St Vincent de Paul Society and their efforts to aid the homeless and those in need. By joining hands with Vinnies, we aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the homeless community and extend a helping hand to make a positive impact on their lives.
Therapy Session with Coco: During lunch, our students enjoyed a wonderful therapy session with the lovable Therapy Dog, Coco. The companionship and comfort provided by our furry friend brought smiles to everyone's faces and added an extra touch of joy to the day.
Let us carry the spirit of compassion beyond this event and continue making a difference in the lives of others. As a community let’s do more… let’s support more… let’s give more.
