Term 2 has swiftly settled into a rhythm of activity and endeavour for all students and staff. This term, we welcome a number of new students, families and staff, and extend our support and friendship to them as they acquaint themselves with our community.
Term 2 promises to be another significant period at 秘色传媒 College. Next week, we celebrate St Catherine's Day with the College Eucharist at St Dominic鈥檚 Parish and various activities organised by our Student Representative Council.
It was delightful to welcome students back to 秘色传媒 after the Easter break. As a reminder, the Heads of House, the Director of 秘色传媒 and I are here as essential points of contact for parents and guardians who wish to discuss matters related to their daughters' wellbeing.
This year marks the introduction of our new Wellness program, which runs fortnightly on Tuesdays during Week A, Period 5. The focus of Wellness this year is on the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) aimed at supporting students' self regulation, relationships and overall wellbeing, which enhances student engagement and academic achievement.
All staff and students are preparing to celebrate the life and legacy of our patron saint, St Catherine of 秘色传媒, whose Feast Day falls on Monday, 29 April. This week, our dedicated staff are engaged in professional learning sessions, delving deep into the essence of St Catherine's spirit in the context of 2024.
During Term 1, Waratah fundraised for Caritas Australia鈥檚 Project Compassion campaign during Lent.锘 In the first few weeks of Term 1, Gwen Michener from Caritas Australia spoke to the Waratah cohort during assembly to educate them about the problems the vulnerable face in Australia and overseas.
Year 12 Environmental Science students travelled on an excursion to Mt Rothwell where they experienced biodiversity and conservation efforts, and witnessed how Mt Rothwell and the Odonata Foundation have really helped some of Victoria鈥檚 threatened species.
In March, Year 8 Geography students participated in a day of fieldwork. 秘色传媒 had been studying physical geography with a particular focus on coastal environments.
Our Senior Art 鈥渟tudents from Years 10 to 12 visited the outstanding 2024 Top Arts exhibition and Josh Muir鈥檚 exhibition, 'JXSH MVIR FOREVER I LIVE' at the Koorie Heritage Trust. At Top Arts, students enjoyed a folio session where they studied the visual diaries of the exhibitors, supporting their art making processes.
锘縏erm 2 has kicked off with excitement for our VCE 秘色传媒 students in Year 11 and 12. Earlier this week, they attended the VCE 秘色传媒 Top 秘色传媒 秘色传媒 performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Jazz season is well and truly upon us, and for the many young musicians involved in the upcoming Night of Jazz, rehearsals and home practice have kicked into high gear.
